Yazio Reviews: Free Version, Pro and Fasting Features

The free version covers a food diary, a barcode scanner and a water tracker. Recipes and weekly analysis are Pro, and the US App Store lists 12-month rows from $23.90 to $47.90.

Key takeaways

  • The help tutorial puts the diary, the 16:8 fasting tracker and a daily analysis in the free version, and recipes, other fasting trackers and weekly analysis in Pro.
  • The US App Store rows named 12 Months run from $23.90 to $47.90, and in Australia the same name runs from $29.99 to $114.99.
  • The store text names no plan for its recipes while the help tutorial says they are Pro, so check the paywall in the app.
  • Pro has no ads, and it adds Fitbit and Garmin sync and custom meal plans, per the store listing.
  • The terms say the cancellation takes effect at the end of the chosen term, and web purchases are cancelled from the site footer.

Yazio’s free version has a food diary, a barcode scanner and a water tracker. Recipes, weekly analysis and most fasting trackers are Pro. The US App Store lists 12-month rows from $23.90 to $47.90, and the same name covers a wider spread in Canada and Australia. These Yazio reviews come from my own reading of its pages and four storefronts, not from user ratings.

Yazio Reviews: What Do the Free Version and Pro Include?

Two Yazio documents describe the tiers, and they agree less than you’d expect. The help tutorial says the free version includes the diary for meals, activities, water and body weight, the 16:8 fasting tracker and a daily analysis. It puts recipes, the other fasting trackers and the weekly and monthly analysis in Pro. The App Store listing adds calorie goals, macros, a barcode scanner, custom meals and a water tracker with reminders to the free side. It adds an experience without ads, Fitbit and Garmin sync and custom meal plans to Pro.

Feature Free Pro
Diary for meals, activities, water and body weight Yes Yes
Calorie goals, macros, barcode scanner Yes Yes
Water tracker with reminders Yes Yes
16:8 fasting tracker Yes Yes
Other fasting trackers No Yes
Daily analysis Yes Yes
Weekly and monthly analysis No Yes
Recipes No Yes
Custom meal plans No Yes
Fitbit and Garmin sync No Yes
No ads No Yes

The sources blur two lines. The store text presents 2,900+ recipes as one of its three tools and names no plan, while the help tutorial says recipes are only in Pro. The store text also lists symptom tracking under both its free tools and Pro. I’d follow the help center, which exists to answer this question, and look at the paywall in the app before paying.

One more gap. The store text and the website say you can track by AI photo, by barcode or by hand. Neither says which plan the photo tool belongs to, and I found no official page that does. Is MyFitnessPal free shows where another app draws that line.

What fasting features does Yazio have?

Yazio calls itself an intermittent fasting app too, with timers and plans such as 16:8, 5:2 and 6:1, per its home page. The help tutorial counts 20 fasting trackers in all. The free version includes 16:8. The others need Pro.

If a fasting timer is why you’re reading, open the free 16:8 tracker every day for a week. Whether you keep tapping it tells you more than any plan list, and the paid trackers only matter if you want a different schedule.

I wouldn’t build a diary around fasting, and Calsa has no fasting timer. A fasting timer gives you a second thing to fall behind on. I’d stay on the free one.

How much does Yazio Pro cost?

It depends on the row. Each storefront lists up to ten in-app purchases, and many share a name. I read all four pages and grouped the rows by their printed name.

Storefront “12 Months” and “12 months” “3 Months” “Semi-Annual” “YAZIO PRO”
United States $23.90 to $47.90 $23.99 $34.99 $11.90 to $32.99
United Kingdom £14.99 to £47.90 £14.99 to £23.99 £24.99 £9.99 to £39.99
Canada $26.99 to $109.99 $35.99 $34.99 $9.99 to $54.99
Australia $29.99 to $114.99 $29.99 $39.99 $14.99 to $59.99

The store pages don’t say why a name has several prices. The gap inside the 12-month name is $24.00 in the US, £32.91 in the UK, $83.00 in Canada and $85.00 in Australia.

Divide by twelve. The US rows are $1.99 a month at $23.90 and $3.99 at $47.90. The UK range is £1.25 to £3.99 a month, Canada’s is $2.25 to $9.17 and Australia’s is $2.50 to $9.58. A Canadian buyer who taps the wrong row pays more than four times as much for the same plan name. Rows named only “YAZIO PRO” don’t print a period, so I can’t convert them.

Before you subscribe, read the price and period on the confirmation sheet, since that is the amount you’re billed and the list may show another row. The fatsecret app review and the Cronometer review walk through two more price ladders, and how to choose a calorie counter app gives the checks to run on any of them.

Does Yazio have a free trial, and how do you cancel?

Sometimes. The terms say Yazio may temporarily offer a trial subscription for a period it sets, and its privacy section describes an in-app purchase that may start with a seven-day free trial. No storefront page states a trial length.

The same terms say the app is always free of charge when installed through a store, and that paid use needs your explicit consent in the app. On cancelling, they say you can cancel at any time. It takes effect at the end of the chosen term. A web purchase is cancelled from the button in the site footer, in the app or by email. A store purchase is cancelled in that store’s subscription settings. Yazio vs Calsa sets that cancel path beside Calsa’s.

Where does Calsa differ from Yazio, and who should pick Yazio?

Everything above about Yazio comes from its App Store pages, website, help center and terms, and I never opened its paid screens. This blog belongs to Calsa, so I’m biased. Check the comparison against those pages.

Yazio Calsa
Starting point A version at no cost, plus Pro Paid from the start, with price, trial length and cancel path shown before any question
Fasting Timers and plans; 16:8 at no cost None
Recipes and meal plans Recipes and custom plans in Pro Not built; ideas come from your own diary
Watch and widgets Apple Watch app, widgets and Siri on iPhone No watch app yet; Apple Health or Health Connect carries weight, steps and activity
Ads and trackers Pro has no ads No ad networks, tracking SDKs or pixels in any plan
Source behind a number Not shown on the pages I read Each entry shows where its calories come from and the math, per-100-gram value × grams
Photo, voice and typed entries AI photo, barcode and manual; voice and text added in a recent update In every plan, with a portion you confirm

Where Calsa is weaker: it starts as a paid product, while Yazio lets you log at no cost. It has no fasting timers, no recipe library, no meal plans, no watch app, no widgets and a smaller food database.

Choose something else if you want a version at no cost, fasting timers, recipes or an Apple Watch app.

Calsa puts the price, trial length and cancel path on screen before its first question.
