How do I stop optional emails without cancelling my subscription?

Use the unsubscribe option in an optional email or turn off the optional email choice in You → Privacy and data. This stops optional email. It does not cancel your subscription or remove your diary.

Necessary messages such as sign-in, billing and rights-request replies remain separate. A spam complaint or confirmed hard delivery failure can block all email, including sign-in, unlike ordinary unsubscribe. If essential emails stop, contact support about delivery. Enabling marketing is not required to restore an essential channel.
