Noom vs Weight Watchers: Two Programs Side by Side
One teaches habits with daily lessons, and the other gives every food a Points value. On US pages a month costs $70 at one and $24.00 at the other, and both renew automatically.
Key takeaways
- One program teaches habits with daily lessons and color-sorted foods, and the other gives each food a Points value inside a daily budget.
- On the US pages, one prices a month at $70 and a year at $209, and the other charges $24.00 a month after a 30-day trial.
- Both free trials turn into paid plans unless you cancel before they end.
- The 12-month commitment on one starts at $12 a month, half its $24.00 monthly fee, and renews for another 12 months.
- One lets you cancel inside the app, and the other points to an online page, chat or phone.
Noom vs Weight Watchers pits two subscription weight programs with different methods against each other, and Weight Watchers now calls itself WW, so you’ll see Noom vs WW too. Noom teaches habits with daily lessons and color-sorted foods. WW gives every food a Points value inside a daily budget. On the US pages Noom runs $70 for one month and $209 for twelve, while WW lists $24.00 a month after a 30-day trial. Both renew automatically.
Noom vs Weight Watchers: what is the main difference?
Noom’s explainer describes a plan of around 16 weeks with a suggested daily calorie range, daily lessons based on cognitive behavioral therapy and logged foods sorted into green, yellow and orange. WW’s Points page says your daily Points Budget is tailored to your body and goals. Each food gets a Points value that sugar and saturated fat push up and protein and fiber pull down.
Each program hands you one daily figure to stay inside. Noom’s is calories tagged with colors, and WW’s is Points, with ZeroPoint foods that WW says make eating easier. What Noom’s own users report after the first weeks is in Noom reviews.
| Noom | Weight Watchers (WW) | |
|---|---|---|
| Method | daily lessons, color-sorted foods, a daily calorie range | a Points Budget with a value for every food |
| Food logging | AI food logging with 1M+ food items | photo or barcode scan, 12,000+ recipes, 600+ restaurant guides |
| Human help | optional 1:1 coaching | 24/7 coach chat, and 3,000 weekly Workshops on Core+ |
| Medication add-on | Noom Med, if eligible | Med+ and a GLP-1 Success Program, per the US listing |
Both also sell a separate prescription service. That’s a clinician’s call, so I leave it out.
How much do Noom and Weight Watchers cost?
On the US pages, Noom costs more month to month, and WW costs less on a long commitment. Noom’s plan page prices one month at $70 and twelve months at $209, before tax and discounts. WW’s trial page gives a standard monthly fee of $24.00. Its Points page lists “Starting at $12/month” on a 12-month commitment, which auto-renews for another 12 months.
By my division, WW’s monthly fee is about a third of Noom’s one-month price (24 ÷ 70 = 0.34). A year of $24.00 months is $288, and twelve months at $12 is $144, half of it. Noom’s $209 year is $17.42 a month, but WW’s $12 also needs the 12-month commitment, so compare plans that ask for the same length.
The app stores add confusion. Each storefront lists ten purchases and shows no billing period for Noom’s rows. I read all eight pages.
| Storefront | Noom, rows named “Noom Program” | WW, rows as named |
|---|---|---|
| US / WW | $44.99 to $199.99 | “Monthly Plan” $19.99 to $24.99, “WW Digital 6-month” $108.99 |
| UK / WW | £40.99 to £189.99 | “1-Month Plan” £49.99, “12-Month Plan” £299.99, and other rows from £179.99 to £229.99 |
| Canada / WW | $58.99 to $259.99 | “Monthly Plan” $22.99 to $28.99, “1-Month Plan” $69.99, “Unlimited Workshops + Digital” $37.99 |
| Australia / WW | $64.99 to $309.99 | “Monthly Plan” $34.99 to $44.99, “12-Month Plan” $499.99, “Unlimited Workshops + Digital” $35.99 |
WW’s named rows are easier to read than Noom’s: the Australian 12-month row works out to $41.67 a month. The UK list for WW read differently in an earlier fetch the same day, so I give only what the page showed on my last read. All prices are in local currency, and Noom itself says its prices can vary with how you sign up.
Do Noom and Weight Watchers offer a free trial?
Yes, both do, and both turn into paid plans. WW’s trial is 30 days. You’re signed up at the standard monthly fee unless you cancel before midnight Eastern on day 30, per the trial terms. Noom’s blog says every plan started with an initial 7-day trial, though its plan table mentions none.
Only Noom lists a free version. Its support page says you can make a free account, or land on the free version when a paid plan ends. Depending on location it has select lessons, movement tracking and meal logging. I found no free tier on the WW pages I opened. If what you actually want is a tracker, not a program, Noom vs MyFitnessPal shows the cheaper route.
Both programs charge you automatically once the trial ends, and WW’s cutoff is midnight Eastern on day 30, so I’d note the date at sign-up.
How do you cancel Noom or Weight Watchers, and get your data?
Noom lets you cancel inside the app. For WW I found an online page, chat and phone, and no in-app route. For Noom, the cancel page lists the app (profile picture, Settings, Manage Subscription), the web portal and your app store. Access lasts to the end of the billing cycle. WW’s cancellation page links an online cancellation page and 24/7 chat. It says one-month plans end with the membership month, and multi-month commitment plans end when the commitment ends. The trial terms also give 800-651-6000 for cancelling a trial.
Data works differently. Noom’s export page says you can request it in the app or portal and typically receive it within 30 days. WW’s privacy policy says to email [email protected] or call 1-800-651-6000, and I found no export button on the pages I opened. If you’re leaving WW, Weight Watchers app alternative names three things worth checking first.
How does Calsa compare with these two programs?
Calsa is a tracker with no coach behind it, so the rows set features side by side. Every program fact comes from the pages linked above.
| Noom and Weight Watchers | Calsa | |
|---|---|---|
| Method | lessons and color sorting at one, a Points budget at the other | calories and nutrients, each entry showing its source and the math |
| Human help | coaching, chat or Workshops | an AI chat that answers from your own diary, and no coach |
| Leaving | cancel in the app or through an online page, chat or phone; data on request | cancel the way you subscribed; download all your data, whatever plan |
| Where Calsa is weaker | no coaching, lessons, Workshops or community, and a subscription is required; no manual workout logging; no Apple Watch app or widget; no meal plans or fasting; a smaller food database | |
| Choose something else if | you want a coach, daily lessons, a Points system, Workshops, a medication program or a weekly meal plan |
WW’s 30-day trial tests the Points rules cheaply. Noom is the pick if you want to understand why you eat as you do, and that only works if you open the lessons. A tracker is the lighter option when you want a sourced number for each food, and how to choose a calorie counter app shows how to test one.
Calsa cancels the way you subscribed. Export covers everything, on any plan.
Questions and answers
Do Noom and Weight Watchers offer medication?
Both sell separate prescription services if you're eligible, called Noom Med and Med+. Neither includes the cost of medication in its program plans, per their pages. Whether medication suits you is a question for a clinician.
Can I cancel Weight Watchers by phone?
Yes. WW lists 800-651-6000 for cancelling a free trial, and 1-800-651-6000 on its privacy page. It also offers an online cancellation page and 24/7 chat. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the membership month for one-month plans.
How do I get my data from Noom or Weight Watchers?
Noom takes an export request in the app or web portal and typically delivers within 30 days. WW asks you to email [email protected] or call 1-800-651-6000, and I found no self-serve export button on its pages.

No. The US App Store lists an age rating of 18+ for both apps.
